Ohio Soybean Council Foundation - Scholarships (2024-2025)

The Ohio Soybean Council Foundation (OSCF) is pleased to offer $44,000 in scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students for the 2024-2025 academic year. Please encourage appropriate students to apply for these scholarships and share the details below to the appropriate faculty, staff, industry leaders and students. Scholarships are available to undergraduate and graduate students pursuing studies related to the soybean industry and the field of agriculture. The deadline to apply is January 12, 2024 by 11:59 pm. Undergraduate scholarships:

  • Seven undergraduate scholarships of up to $3,000 each
  • One $3,000 Robinson W. Joslin Scholarship, to be awarded to a student who has demonstrated outstanding leadership potential. 
  • One $5,000 Bhima Vijayendran Scholarship, named to honor Dr. Vijayendran’s contributions to the soybean industry through his scientific research and commercialization activities at Battelle. This scholarship was founded to support those pursuing a degree related to science, technology or soybean research.

Undergraduate Eligibility: Applicants must be Ohio residents enrolled as full-time students at an Ohio college or university, having attained at least sophomore status by Fall 2024, with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Eligible majors include biology, biochemistry, bioengineering, molecular biology, chemistry, engineering, biotechnology, bioenergy, biofuels, food science, crop science, environmental science, agricultural communications, agricultural business, agricultural education or any of the agricultural disciplines or related fields.

Graduate scholarships:

  • Three scholarships of up to $5,000 each

Graduate Eligibility: Students must be enrolled as full-time graduate students at an Ohio college or university. Applicants must be conducting research in biotechnology, biobased materials, bioengineering, crop production, plant pathology, crop science, agronomy, soybean breeding or a related field, and must be focused on advancing the soybean industry. Applicants must have proof of legal residency in the U.S.

 

Gardeners of Greater Youngstown Scholarships 

  • Application deadline April, 6 2024

  • Up to $1000 per student pursuing a degree in Horticulture, Landscape Design, or allied subject

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 required
  • Open to students that went to high school or live in Columbiana, Mahoning, Portage, Stark and Trumbull Counties

Columbiana Mahoning County Beekeepers Association

  • Application deadline Friday, March 1st, 2024

  • Columbiana and Mahoning County Beekeepers Association supports new young beekeepers through our Youth Scholarship Program. We realize that the success of a new beekeeper is not reliant on the student's work and money alone but on the partnership's effort. Thus, the Youth Scholarship Program encourages the participation of parents/guardians, 4-H/B.S. Ohio advisers, local Ohio associations, and mentors.

PAST SCHOLARSHIPS 

Ohio Counties Scholarship

  • Due: May 5, 2023
  • Throughout the state, there will be one scholarship offered to students in each CCAO District (Central, Southwest, Northwest, Northeast, and Southeast). The award amount is $2,000 and is payable to the student when the office has received confirmation of your attendance at a university, community college, training program or vocational school. Applicants should plan on a career in public service in Ohio.

Ohio State Fair Scholarships

  • Due: May 1, 2023
  • Qualifications: The applicant must be a high school junior or senior or a graduate continuing their education at an accredited institution in an undergraduate course of study. They must reside in the State of Ohio and must have been both eligible to be a participant in the Junior Fair (not older than 19 years of age as of January 1, 2023) and must have served as an active participant in both the Ohio State Fair Junior Division and their local county fair.

  • Mahoning County Scholarship 
  • Application deadline March 31, 2023

  • Qualifications:
    1. A high school senior who lives in Mahoning County or attends a high school in the county, whose self or parent/guardian is a member of Mahoning County Farm Bureau.
    2. Applicants intending any collegiate degree are eligible, but preference will be shown toward those studying agriculture or related field.
