Naturalist Series: Mahoning County Rocks

The Naturalist Series invites subject matter experts to share their knowledge and research regarding different aspects of nature. Subjects range from animals, plants, insects, and more. All these events are $5 ($30 for the whole series) and occur at 6:30 pm in the Mahoning County Extension Office.

Mahoning County Rocks

  • Sandstone, limestone, shale, oh my! What do the rocks of Mahoning County tell us about the geologic past?  While examining samples and materials, learn about how the environments through geologic time have shaped and formed Mahoning County into what we see today. From subtropical shallow seas to mile-thick ice sheets, Mahoning County geology rocks!
