By the date of statehood in 1803, numerous native wildlife species had vanished from Ohio’s landscape. Several reasons were to blame including unregulated hunting and habitat loss. However, thanks to powerful acts of legislation put in place by influential conservationists, populations of many species have since recovered or are currently rebounding. Join Jamey Emmert with the Ohio Division of Wildlife to learn more about the resurgence of one species in particular, the bobcat. We will discuss identification tips, population distribution and trends, life history and ecology, and how you can help contribute important data to science.
