The Mahoning County Extension Office is pleased to announce the return of its popular Naturalist Series, a monthly educational speaker series designed to connect the community with Ohio’s natural history, wildlife, and environmental resources.

Held on the third Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m., the Naturalist Series invites residents of all ages to explore a wide range of nature-based topics led by knowledgeable local experts. Sessions will take place at the Mahoning County Extension Office beginning in February 2026 and continuing through October 2026.

Topics this year include Ohio’s iron ore history, prehistoric tools, animal skull identification, ticks, snakes, bats, furbearers, aquatic ecosystems, and soil health. Each program offers engaging presentations and opportunities for participants to deepen their understanding of the natural world right here in Ohio.

Individual sessions are $5 each, or participants may register for the entire series for $30. Advance registration is encouraged.

The Naturalist Series is hosted by Ohio State University Extension and supports its mission to provide research-based education that strengthens communities and fosters environmental stewardship.

For a full schedule or to register, visit go.osu.edu/naturalistseries or call 330-533-5538.
