Do you want to plant your own vegetable and flower garden? Mahoning County OSU Extension has you covered! Mahoning County Extension will be distributing sample seed starter packets at various locations across Youngstown the week of May 16th while supplies last:
- Tuesday, May 17th – 9 a.m. to noon at Beatitude House, 145 N Glenellen Ave, Youngstown, OH 44509.
- Wednesday, May 18th – 9 a.m. - noon - MYCAP 1325 5th Ave, Youngstown, OH 44504 and 2 p.m. – 6 p.m. - McGuffey Center 1649 Jacobs Rd, Youngstown, Ohio 44505.
- Thursday, May 19th – 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Sebring High School, 225 E Indiana Ave, Sebring, OH 44672.
- Friday, May 20th – 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Alta Head Start (Farmer’s Market), 345 Oakhill Drive, Youngstown, OH, 44502.
Each packet contains a combination of carrots, cucumbers, lettuce, or sunflowers and will also have instructions on how to plant and care for your seeds. Come learn more about how to start your garden and participants who fill out the survey after can also enter to win a set of garden tools.
Victory Gardens have historical significance in our country, an effort to plant fruits, vegetables, and herbs during challenging times to contribute to the cause. The Ohio Department of Agriculture and OSU Extension are reviving the movement – join in and start planting!
