Do you love to garden? Have a passion for learning? The Mahoning County Master Gardener Volunteer (MGV) program is offering an Open House where you can learn how to become a MGV and share your enthusiasm for gardening with others. Join us for a meet and greet with the Mahoning and Columbiana Counties Master Gardener Volunteers on Wednesday, September 27th, 2023, from 3pm-5pm.
Come to the OSU Extension Office in Mahoning County (490 S. Broad Street, Canfield, OH 44406) for social time to talk about the program, enjoy refreshments, and fellowship with current volunteers. We’ll share details about our upcoming training and answer questions about joining.
The Ohio State University Extension Master Gardener Volunteer Program provides intensive training in horticulture to interested Ohio residents, who then volunteer their time assisting with educational programs and activities for county residents. Botany, soils, Entomology, backyard fruit production, and pollinators are only a few of the topics that will be covered in MGV training, along with input from speakers and resources for your use.
Volunteers are not required to have gardening skills or knowledge; a passion for learning about gardening and sharing this knowledge with others is a must! After training, volunteers will be equipped to teach at community gardening events, Extension programs, serve in our Plant and Pest Diagnostic Clinic, or volunteer through various other events offered throughout the year.
To RSVP, please call the Mahoning County Extension Office at 330-533-5538. Walk-ins are welcome as well!
