  1. 2023 Spring Garden Workshop - Join us to learn about Garden Spaces, Perennials, Containers, and more!

    Join us on consecutive Saturdays in April for our annual Spring Garden Workshop series. Get inspired for the 2023 gardening season by learning from two keynote presentations, choosing from breakout sessions, winning door prizes, and having tons of fun! There is a Garden Art Sale all day including handmade items by Master Gardener Volunteers & more. Registration includes hot lunch, sessions, proceedings handouts from all sessions, and a make-and-take item (limited availability).

  3. 2023 Naturalist speaker series begins in February

    The Naturalist Series invites subject matter experts to share their knowledge and research regarding different aspects of nature. Subjects range from animals, plants, insects, and more. Each of the speaker engagements are $5 ($30 for the whole series) and occur at 6:30 pm in the Mahoning County Extension Office. The first speaker in the series is Tom Frank a State Wildlife Officer from the Ohio Division of Wildlife who will be speaking about white tailed deer in Ohio.

  4. Wreaths for Our Veterans - Donations Requested, Ceremony Saturday, December 3rd

    The Mahoning County Master Gardener Volunteers have been able to place wreaths on Veterans' graves for the past 15 years. These wreaths are meant to honor their sacrifices and teach our younger generations about the high cost of our freedoms. Please help us continue this tradition by donating to this worthy cause.

  5. Milkweed Seeds Available Now!

    Come and get ‘em! Milkweed seeds are available now!  Cost is a suggested two-dollar donation. Seeds can be picked up at The Mahoning County Extension Office located at 490 S Broad St. Canfield, Monday – Friday 8 am – 4:30 pm while supplies last with no holds.  Packets contain around 50 seeds.

  6. Bring One, Take One 2022 - Plant Exchange, Plant, Garden Art, & Garden Item Sale

    Do you love a good trade?  The Mahoning County Extension office is hosting a Bring One, Take One plant exchange!

    CHECK YOUR GARDEN & YOUR HOME: Perennials, Shrubs, and Houseplants are all eligible to be exchanged!

    On August 20 the Master Gardeners will host the annual Bring One Take One plant exchange followed by a plant, used garden item, and garden art sale. This will take place at the OSU Extension Office located at 490 S. Broad Street, Canfield.

    Join OSU Extension staff and trained Master Gardener Volunteers for the 2022 Veggies and More Tour, Growing Local Foods: Urban Farms & Gardens Summer Tour Series

    Come to learn about growing practices, helpful tips, soils, organic production, and more. Bring a lawn chair for seating and a notepad. Don’t forget your weeds, disease, and insects—we’ll diagnose what’s going on in your garden, too!

    OSU Extension Mahoning County is calling on any individuals or groups interested in starting or maintaining a garden and working with local youth in the Mahoning Valley for the summer.

  10. Virtual Dining with Diabetes Cooking School

    Do you or someone you love have diabetes? With 30 million diabetics in America, you are not alone! In this Cooking School and Nutrition Education Program, you will learn how to incorporate good, healthy cooking techniques and other practices to help control your blood sugar. These classes are designed for people with diabetes and their family members or caregivers. Cost is FREE. 

    Classes are offered on the following Mondays in May from 10 a.m. to noon:
