2023 Garden Art Series
Join the Mahoning County Master Gardeners for the 2023 Garden Art Series. The OSU Extension Master Gardener Volunteers will lead hands-on garden art demonstrations that participants will be able to make and take home.
Workshops run on select dates April-December at 6 pm in the Mahoning County Extension Office.
All workshops cost $25 per participant.
Topic: Pocket Size Flower Press
Preserve your own garden or field flowers with this pocket-sized flower press. Measuring only 3 1/2“ x 5“, & very simple to make, this accordion-style press will give you lots of room for preserving your favorite flowers from spring through fall.

Air plants are usually tiny, easy to grow, and they don’t need soil. As the name implies, air plants absorb nutrients and water from the air through scales on their leaves. Join us to learn how to make art with these adorable plants.

Miniature gardens filled with magic! Tiny houses, chairs, lawns, and ponds - fairy worlds that you can create in any space you have – inside or out. Learn how to create your very own fairy garden!

Make a decorative wreath designed to attract and feed birds throughout the fall and winter.
Topic: Infused Vinegar with Garden Fresh Herbs

Preserve fresh flavors from the garden long after the growing season by creating a decorative bottle of infused vinegar. Each student will receive a packet of recipes and they will each fill, design and seal a bottle with unique flavor combinations of herbs and spices, perfect to use, display or give as a gift.

In this beginner friendly class, students will create a lovely little ladybug to adorn their garden for next spring by learning about design, gluing, and grouting of mosaics. Each student will make a ladybug garden stone in class and learn how use found objects to recreate this process at home!
Topic: Holiday Containers
Date: Wednesday, November 15
Join us for a look at turning your pots into holiday masterpieces! We’ll cover form and style, along with finding and using several kinds of greenery, berries, and other cuttings from your landscape. NOTE: Bring up to a 12” diameter pot to fill during the class to get a leg up on your holiday designs. Leave soil in pot and cut off plants, do not dig. This will help the design stay in place.
